The Sunshine Dream Resort

Now available on Amazon.com, in both paperback and hardcover editions! It's also listed on Barnes & Noble and has recently become available in both a Kindle and Nook editions.

My first novel was begun in the fall of 2003. As you would expect, it was inspired by a dream. For several years, people had been telling me, "you should write a book." I'd always wanted to do just that, however I couldn't settle on a subject, or story. Then one morning, I had a dream about a really cool place. It was a vague, deamy sort of place, but the people there were  pleasantly surprised to see me. I was reluctant to wake from that dream, but I knew when I did, that I had found my book. It took several months of outlining, refining, revising and re-revising, but eventually the story of Odin Hobbs emerged and The Sunshine Dream Resort was on its way. (Some pre-publication reviews of the book.)

A general outline of the book:

When Odin Hobbs had a heart attack, he didn't see lights, or hear choirs, he just died for a few minutes. Ever since then, he's been having incredibly vivid dreams. He's beginning to wonder if they're more than what they seem. When he and his wife visit the Sunshine Dream Resort, in an effort to patch their marriage, he learns the truth about his dreams, and then some.

The resort is hosted by Miss Ruby Hutchinson, a Jamaican administrator of distinction, who is also rumored to be a powerful Obeah woman. It's a rumor she neither confirms nor denies. Her second-in-command, Jon Ericson is dealing with more than just his crush on the newest staff member. He's also contending with Vincent Gratiot; a man who takes his job a little too seriously. At any other resort that wouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately for the guests under his care, particularly Odin Hobbs, Vincent is the man in charge of their dreams.

During his stay, Odin runs into several guests, including an ugly duckling in the process of discovering she's quite an attractive swan, a lonely retiree in search of happiness (and sleep), a loud, perpetually grouchy widow and an odd Czech psychic. It's a touching, dryly humorous story of life, death, near-death and a vacation at a beautiful Florida resort.

As noted above, it's available at Amazon.com in both hardcover and paperback and at Barnes & Noble , in both versions. And of course, there are Kindle and Nook editions. .
